Tour Plan

Morning Pick-Up

  • We will pick you up from your hotel and begin the Coptic Cairo tour with your expert Egyptologist guide, who will introduce you to the most significant Coptic sites in Old Cairo.

The Hanging Church

  • Visit the famous Hanging Church, built above the southern gate of the ancient Roman Fortress.
  • Its distinctive wooden roof, shaped like Noah’s Ark, and its role as the residence of the Coptic Patriarch between the 7th and 13th centuries make it one of Old Cairo’s most remarkable churches.

Ben Ezra Synagogue

  • Continue to Ben Ezra Synagogue, originally a 4th-century church later rebuilt in the 9th century.
  • This historical site is connected with the Jewish community in Egypt and is believed to be where the prophet Jeremiah gathered the Jews after the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem.
  • Restored in the 12th century, it holds a rich history of Jewish life in North Africa.

Lunch Break

  • Enjoy a delicious lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant, offering a taste of authentic Egyptian cuisine.

Abu Serga Church

  • Next, visit Abu Serga Church, believed to stand on the spot where the Holy Family — Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus — rested during their journey in Egypt.
  • This church holds great religious and historical value, and many early Coptic patriarchs were ordained here.

Virgin Mary Church (Haret Zuweila)

  • End the sightseeing with a visit to the Virgin Mary Church in Haret Zuweila, considered one of the oldest churches in the area.
  • Although traditionally dated to the 10th century, inscriptions suggest its consecration occurred in the 12th century. It served as the seat of the Coptic Pope from 1400 to 1520 AD.

Return to Hotel

  • At the end of the tour, we will return you comfortably to your hotel in Cairo or Giza in a private air-conditioned vehicle.
